Measuring Circumference in Practice
The easiest way to measure the circumference of a round object is to wrap a flexible tape measure or string around it. Mark where the string meets, then measure the string length. This is often easier than measuring diameter directly, especially for pipes, columns, or tree trunks.

- Keep the tape perpendicular to the object's axis for a true circumference.

Pi Reference
Pi (π) is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. It's an irrational number — its decimal expansion never ends or repeats. For most practical purposes, 3.14159 provides sufficient accuracy. For engineering, 3.14159265 covers virtually all needs.
