How Old Was I on a Specific Date?
Enter your birthday and any date — past or future — to find your exact age on that day. The calculator breaks down the result into years, months, days, and also shows totals in months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds.
Common Reasons to Check
- Historical events: How old were you when a major event happened?
- Personal milestones: What was your age when you graduated, got married, or started a job?
- Legal purposes: Were you 18 or 21 on a specific date?
- Future planning: How old will you be when your child graduates or when you retire?
How the Calculation Works
The calculator performs calendar-aware date subtraction:
- Years: Subtract birth year from target year, reduce by one if the birthday hasn't occurred yet in the target year
- Months: Subtract birth month from target month, borrowing from years if negative
- Days: Subtract birth day from target day, borrowing from the previous month if negative
This handles varying month lengths (28–31 days) and leap years automatically.
Age in Different Units
- Total months: Years × 12 + remaining months
- Total weeks: Total days ÷ 7 (rounded down)
- Total days: Exact day count between the two dates
- Total hours: Total days × 24
- Total minutes: Total days × 1,440
- Total seconds: Total days × 86,400
